Parents Outraged After Childless Couple Forces School District to Relocate Bus Stop to Prevent Neighborhood Kids from Hanging Around Their Yard

A childless couple fed up with neighborhood kids disrespecting their front yard while awaiting the school bus has outraged parents by having the bus stop relocated away from their property.

The married duo recently took to the social media platform Reddit to share the fallout they've experienced since they had a long-established elementary school bus stop moved from the edge of their yard.

Describing themselves as private and introverted, the pair say they have tolerated kids running through their yard and playing on their lawn while waiting for the bus. However, they say "it all went too far" last week, after school hours, when a group of kids took over their lawn, raking leaves into piles to jump in and "shaking little trees to bring down more leaves."

Concerned about liability and frustrated by what they saw as a lack of respect, the couple asked the kids not to play in their yard. This led to a confrontation with one of the moms, who accused the wife of overstepping, claiming the couple didn't have a right to "parent her kids."

"We feel that we can talk directly to anyone on our property, and honestly doubted the supervision and boundaries set," the Neighbors from Hell post explains.

After the unpleasant exchange, the couple called the school district and asked for the bus stop to be relocated. The district agreed, and informed the neighbors that the stop was moved because of "trespassing," even though the couple insists they never used that word.

Infuriated, two neighbors - "divorced women buddies" - showed up at the couple's door, berating them for going to the district and not consulting them first. "They were being bullies," the post claims. The women allegedly called the couple "pathetic," accused them of being "the grinch," and never trying to get to know them.

"They scoffed at our liability and property boundary concerns, said we are supposed to be neighbors while simultaneously yelling at us," the post continues. The couple was told to build a fence around their yard to keep everyone out and that their dog is "no longer allowed to step foot on their property."

"Disheartened that this happened," the couple are left wondering if they overstepped by asking the kids not to play in their yard.

Curmudgeons of Reddit united to support the couple's actions to keep those kids off their lawn.

Tales of "back in my day" flowed freely in the comments.

The couple's liability concerns resonated with many Redditors, who cited similar difficulties.

Several pointed out that the couple never tried to "parent their kids."

Other folks offered creative solutions to safeguarding the yard, and warmed to the cantankerous neighborhood mothers' fence suggestion.

Apparently, it doesn't always take a village. Sometimes it just takes a call to the school district's transportation office.
