Parents of children at a school that was once in special measures and has been rated 'good' in its most recent inspection say it has has changed dramatically.
Ten years ago, St Laurence CofE Primary School in Long Eaton was rated 'inadequate' overall and placed in special measures.
But in its latest Ofsted report, inspectors found the school to be 'good' in every area.
The primary school is a mixed school for four-to-11-year-olds, with 166 pupils currently on its roll.
And feedback parents have given to inspectors has u-turned, too.
In the 'inadequate' report, of an inspection that took place on January 31 and February 1, 2012, it stated: "Inspectors agree with the few parents who expressed a view that their children were not making sufficient progress.
"In 2011, standards in reading, writing and mathematics for Key Stage 1 pupils were significantly below the national average."
But in the latest report, of an inspection on December 7 and 8 2021, parents could not speak highly enough of the school.
The report states: "Parents and carers are overwhelmingly positive about the school.
"One parent’s comment summed up the views of many: 'The school has a lovely family feel, staff couldn't do any more for our children'.
"Parents appreciate the regular communication from the school.
"Staff expect pupils to work hard and do their best, expectations are high in most subjects and they work hard in lessons and like to achieve well."
The school converted to an academy in 2015, and is part of the Derby Diocesan Academy Trust.
Headteacher Ronni Barker has been in the position at the school for four years, when it was rated 'requires improvement'.
Speaking to Nottinghamshire Live after finding out the 'good' rating, Mrs Barker said: "For a while just before the pandemic started, every day we were hanging on to then find out they were not inspecting.
"We've really built the school since the last inspection, and we've been given a really strong 'good' rating.
"That was such an amazing feeling, especially as they said there is a real family feel to the school, and staff here could not have done any more.
"It really has improved beyond recognition and it's been a massive team effort."
