Parents hail Aldi product as 'fantastic' for children with allergies

Aldi shoppers have rushed to praise a vegan snack product that customers claim is "fantastic" for people with allergies.

The bargain supermarket is currently selling a vegan version of Maryland Cookies on its shelves for just over 60p.

Vegan snack foods are popular among not only people who choose not to eat any animal products, but also those who are allergic to things such as dairy.

After spotting the low-price item at her local Aldi, one mum took to the Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK Facebook group to share the information with others.

She wrote: "If anyone who has an allergy or has a child/children with allergies then you will understand my excitement for finding these in Aldi for 63p! These are such a bargain and both my boys love them."

Fellow members of the group were quick to share their thoughts on the vegan cookies, and before long the post had attracted almost 2,000 comments.

One wrote: "I got my son some. He's got allergies. Normally I get him the Tesco free from choc chip cookies so these are a nice change."

"I brought these in my mum's coop this week and my youngest two were so excited to be able to eat cookies like their big brother," a second shared.

A third commented: "Amazing find I have dairy and twins have nut allergy they are fantastic for us."

Another said: "Amazing! Thank you! My little man is dairy intolerant. He’ll be happy as normally has plain biscuits."

A fifth posted: "I am vegetarian and would like to turn vegan but I find it hard to see vegan food in most shops. It’s nice to see vegan food is getting out there and more accessible."

Users praised the product for tasting similar to the non-vegan version (Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group)

A sixth praised the flavour, writing: "They’re actually really tasty too! Don’t taste much different to normal Maryland cookies."

Other Facebook users suggested different shops that also sell the vegan cookies.

"Our little boy loves these would eat the whole packet if I let him, Home Bargains often have them too for the same price," one shared.

A second posted: "B&M and Home Bargains have these in too."

Another wrote: "In case Aldi stop stocking them and are just a special our Home Bargains have had them at the same price for quite a while now! My kids with allergies love them!"
