Furious parents have accused Home Bargains of creating a new Easter trend in the name of 'commercialism'.
The discount retailer put child-targeted Easter Eve boxes on the shelves of a select number of its stores, in a move which has gone down badly with parents, with some accusing Home Bargains of milking a religious holiday for money.
Debbie Chambers was one of the parents who spotted the product on the shelves on her local store. Each box is filled with festive-themed goodies including an 'egg hunt set' and a basket, to give kids something to enjoy the night before Easter.

Debbie took an image of the product and shared it online. Soon other parents commented on the post saying Home Bargains had gone too far.
Debbie shared a picture of the boxes on the Extreme Couponing and Bargains group, where it quickly caught the attention of furious parents. One user said: "When I was growing up I received some Easter eggs, this is a ridiculous idea.
"The sad thing is shops have forgotten what some occasions are for. For some people, Easter is an extremely special, religious day. I admire people with this faith, it is not something to be insulted by throwing money at it!"
Another added: "What a waste of money. The pressure on parents to buy these extras is so sad, especially at the moment.
"Some people might think these are brilliant for others it's simply more commercialism and pressure. Thank goodness my children are too old now for this."
"What next...Halloween eve?? Bonny night eve? There is a special magic on Christmas Eve. Retailers should just respect that," said another user.
One person said she felt the idea of 'eve' boxes detract from the joy of the actual holiday itself. "Oh, I’m fuming with Home Bargains," she added.
