Parents of students who attend Apalachee High School and nearby schools in the area are anxiously awaiting updates following a shooting incident. When news of the active shooting broke, one parent, who was at work at the time, received a text alert and immediately rushed to the scene to ensure the safety of her child who was at the elementary school adjacent to the high school.
As a precautionary measure, all schools in the district were placed on lockdown during the incident. The concerned parent shared that she had to park her car down the street and walk to the area to confirm her child's well-being.
The location of the schools, situated on opposite sides of a street, has led to a gathering of numerous parents who are parked along the road, eagerly awaiting further information from authorities. Barrow County Sheriff Jud Smith mentioned in a news conference that efforts are underway to reunite parents with their children.
