Parayko's OT goal lifts Blues to 3-2 win over Islanders

ST. LOUIS _ Colton Parayko's wraparound goal with 1:37 remaining gave the Blues a dramatic come-from-behind 3-2 victory over the New York Islanders on Thursday at Enterprise Center.

It came with 1:37 remaining in OT and was his eighth of the season. The Blues, winning their sixth consecutive game, improved to 38-17-10, for 86 points. The 21 games over .500 is the high-water mark for the Blues this season.

Clinging to a 2-1 lead that they took in the first period, the New York Islanders were playing a good game of dump the puck, milk the clock and play defense.

But with time running out, Vince Dunn fired an absolute rocket past Thomas Greiss from the high slot to tie the game at 2-2 with just 1:44 to play in regulation.

It was Dunn's eighth goal of the season, ending an 18-game goal drought.

After a subpar first period, the Blues got after it in the second. They outshot the New York Islanders 10-1 in the second period, with the Isles going without a shot on goal until just 7 minutes 5 seconds remained in the period.

But the Blues couldn't get one past Greiss in a scoreless period and trailed 2-1 after two periods.

A late goal by Brayden Schenn saved a bad first period by the Blues from being even worse than a 2-1 deficit.

The Blues' penalty kill woes continued when Jean-Gabriel Pageau, in his second game as an Islander, scored a power play goal at the 8:20 mark of the period.

Pageau found a soft spot in the Blues' PK, and slammed a one-timer past Jordan Binnington from the right circle to open the scoring. It was Pageau's 26th of the season and his second in as many games for the New Yorkers since being traded from Ottawa on Monday.

It became 2-0 eight minutes later when several Blues got caught puck watching and Jordan Eberle skated free down the backside and beat Binnington with a nifty backhand move for his 15th goal.

But in the final minute of play, New York's Johnny Boychuk sent an attempted clearing past in the neutral zone off Jordan Schwartz. It resulted in a two-on-one break and a one-timer for Schenn off a feed by Ryan O'Reilly.

It was Schenn's 23rd goal of the season and his third in as many games and cut the Islanders' lead to 2-1.
