Paramount Pictures has announced the reboot of the popular early-aughts comedy series, 'Scary Movie,' known for its parody of horror films such as 'Scream' and 'I Know What You Did Last Summer.' Teaming up with 'Fast and Furious' mega-producer Neal H. Moritz, the franchise is set to make a comeback. Production for the new 'Scary Movie' installment is scheduled to begin in the fall of 2024, with a projected release date in 2025.

The original 'Scary Movie' series consisted of five films, with the last one released in 2013. However, the resurgence of horror movies in recent years, including hits like 'Five Nights at Freddy's,' 'Smile,' and 'M3GAN,' has created ample material for the satirical team behind 'Scary Movie' to work with.

The reboot is part of Paramount's collaboration with Miramax, the studio responsible for the original film franchise. Miramax will be financing the production, while Paramount will handle distribution. Miramax, now under the leadership of new CEO Jonathan Glickman, is a joint venture between Paramount and BeIN.

Neal H. Moritz, the producer behind the 'Fast and Furious' franchise, is currently involved in various projects. He is serving as an executive producer on 'Knuckles,' a six-episode event series set in the 'Sonic the Hedgehog' universe, premiering exclusively on Paramount+ in the U.S. on April 26. Moritz is also producing 'Sonic the Hedgehog 3,' slated for a wide release on Dec. 20, 2024, following his previous work on the first two 'Sonic' films.

Additionally, Moritz is working on several feature film projects at Paramount, including a reboot of the action thriller 'Face/Off.' With the return of 'Scary Movie' and Moritz's involvement in multiple high-profile productions, audiences can anticipate an exciting lineup of entertainment in the coming years.
