Paramount Pictures has officially greenlit a spinoff of the iconic 1986 film, Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The spinoff, titled Sam and Victor’s Day Off, will be directed by David Katzenberg, who is no stranger to 80s nostalgia having worked on projects like The Goldbergs and It.

Sam and Victor’s Day Off will focus on the two valets who famously took the 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California Spyder for a joyride in the original film. Set during the events of Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, the spinoff promises to deliver a day filled with adventures and Easter eggs for fans to enjoy.

The project boasts a talented team of producers including Paul Young, and Cobra Kai co-creators Jon Hurwitz, Hayden Schlossberg, and Josh Heald. Dina Hillier will serve as the executive producer for Sam and Victor’s Day Off.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off, written and directed by John Hughes, has left a lasting impact on pop culture and was even added to the United States National Film Registry for its significance. Starring Matthew Broderick, Mia Sara, and Alan Ruck, the film follows the escapades of Ferris, Cameron, and Sloane as they ditch school for a day of adventure.

Matthew Broderick, who portrayed Ferris Bueller, has acknowledged the enduring legacy of the film, stating that the role will be his lasting imprint on cinema. The spinoff, Sam and Victor’s Day Off, is set to premiere on Paramount+ in the future, although no release date or casting details have been revealed yet.
