A cannabis-using teenager had downed three-quarters of a litre of Vodka before he spat on a paramedic. The behaviour of Oliver Wilson, who is just 18, was described by emergency worker Michael Hoy as "disgusting and vile, especially given the Covid-19 pandemic".
Willson appeared before magistrates in Nottingham over the attack after his mother called an ambulance to their home in Haywood Road, Mapperley, on August 22 this year. His mother was concerned for his welfare after she thought he had taken some drugs and was hallucinating, Nottingham Magistrates' Court heard on Thursday (September 29).
Following this, his mother found him unresponsive on the floor. Paramedics used a technique to wake him which worked.

But he was immediately aggressive and began to fight against two of them with a "windmill of punches,", the court was told. The teenager was shouting aggressively and said, "I'm going to kill you all".
He was pinned down as he tried to fight a paramedic's leg. He managed to bite his mother, before he spat out and seemed to be aiming for Mr Hoy's face. The spit landed on Mr Hoy's arm.
Wilson went on to plead guilty to assaulting a paramedic and received 100 hours of unpaid work from magistrates after they heard about his remorse for what happened.
He is now taking medication for anxiety and depression. He had come out of lockdown and turned to alcohol and smoked cannabis.
He then drank the three-quarter bottle of Vodka and was feeling suicidal and passed out. In a letter to magistrates, Wilson, who now works at Aldi, told how he had been battling with his mental health and as a coping mechanism, his cannabis use increased.
