Paralympian Ellen Keane asks public to 'get in the sea' for disability charity

Paralympic champion Ellen Keane is calling on the public to join her in a ten sea swim fundraiser next month.

The fundraiser is for Central Remedial Clinic (CRC), one of Ireland's largest disability organisations that provides services to over 4,000 people throughout the country.

Ellen learned how to swim in the CRC swimming pool and said the organisation "has a special place in her heart".

She said: "I am so excited to partner with The CRC as their first ever ambassador for their Swimming Campaign for the month of July.

"CRC has a special place in my heart because I learned to swim in the CRC swimming pool as a child. I am happy to support the CRC’s Swim in July because it brings together two things I am passionate about: swimming and advocating for disability rights.

"I want to get people talking about the rights of people with disabilities and I hope that I can make a difference by using my voice and sharing my experience.

"My hope is that Ireland will become a more inclusive and accessible society. I hope to inspire people with disabilities to go for gold and I hope to inspire society to be more accepting.

"Please join me and support the Get In The Sea for The CRC campaign, together we can make a huge difference.”

CRC are hoping to register 300 swimmers and raise €50,000 for their services.
