A parachutist had a lucky escape after crashing into a tree in County Durham.
Emergency services were called to the scene in Peterlee at around 6pm on Saturday after a woman was reported to have crash landed while using a parachute and became stuck in a tree. Thankfully the woman was uninjured and was rescued by fire crews.
Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue Service crews worked alongside paramedics to bring the woman to safety. The firefighters used working at height equipment and a ladder to help the woman down from the tree.

A spokeswoman for the brigade said: "We were called to the scene at approximately 6pm. Our crews attended the scene near Willerby Grove in Peterlee. A female adult was found stuck in a tree.
"We used working at height equipment and a short extension ladder was also in use. She was then assessed by the North East Ambulance Service and we released her to them."
The North East Ambulance Service confirmed that the woman was thankfully not injured in the incident. After the stricken parachutist was handed over into their care they were able to see that she had escaped the incident intact.
A spokesman said: "We got a call at 5.15pm with a report that a woman had landed in a tree near East Durham College. The Fire and Rescue Service were on the scene and they rescued the woman from the tree. She had no injuries."
