Plans for a major retailer to move to one of Nottingham's busiest shopping streets is close to completion as notices were put up in its current branch. Paperchase, which has stores across the UK, is set to move its operations from Low Pavement to Clumber Street.
The store has since closed its doors with a notice advising customers that they will be relocating to no.9 Clumber Street with a view to opening in August. Paperchase offers design-led cards, wrap, stationery and gifts, along with craft supplies. It was one of the biggest high street retailers on the street which includes Marks and Spencers, Aveda and Jo Malone.
The retailer will be taking over the empty Virgin Media store on the street, situated next to the historic Lion Hotel building, which is now a casino, and the empty Chopstix noodle bar. It will join several other high-profile brands on the street including Lush, Tag Heuer and Superdrug. Photos show work appears to have started on the premises which will include light up new signage.

There had been fears Paperchase could close following the business collapse into administration in May 2021. The company was taken over and continued trading, saving 1,000 jobs across the brand.
Since Covid, there have been a number of high-profile closures on the street including Whistles, Juni gin lab and Jamie Olivers. The move comes amid a period of regeneration and growth for Wheeler Gate and Bridlesmith Gate. Nottingham-born developer Arran Bailey has acquired properties in the area which has struggled since the demolition of Broadmarsh.
The ALB Group has acquired some 11 properties as well as a further three units in nearby Lister Gate, including a former Shoezone shop. In recent months, Barista Lab and Stick and Ribbon have opened stores on the street.
