Panthers WR Xavier Legette says he’ll likely undergo wrist surgery in offseason

There may be a pretty good excuse that Carolina Panthers wideout Xavier Legette can use for his recent issues with ball security. But he’s not going to do that.

Legette revealed to reporters on Thursday that he’ll likely undergo surgery this offseason to repair torn ligaments in his left wrist. He did not, however, attribute the lingering issue to his game-altering drop in this past Sunday’s 22-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles.

“After the game, like I told y’all, I thought I caught it,” he said this afternoon. “When I went back and looked at it, I didn’t.”

His blunder came with just under a minute remaining while the Panthers faced a six-point deficit. Legette was unable to fully secure the ball—wiping a game-tying, 32-yard strike off the board and eventually leading to a turnover on downs for Carolina

The 23-year-old also noted that he’s been putting in some extra work on the JUGS machine of late.
