With Christian McCaffrey out in San Francisco and Chuba Hubbard still dealing with an ankle injury, the Carolina Panthers are starting to look a bit thin at the running back position. So, as first reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport, the Panthers are working out former University of Miami running back Cam’Ron Harris.
Harris was a standout rusher for the Hurricanes, particularly during his 2020 campaign. The Florida native ran for a team-leading 643 yards on 126 attempts (5.1 yards per carry) along with 10 touchdowns.
Before sustaining a season-ending leg injury in 2021, the 5-foot-10, 210-pounder was averaging a whopping 5.8 yards per toke. Harris then declared for the NFL draft at the end of that year.
The injury ultimately derailed Harris’ chances in the 2022 NFL draft, as he went undrafted back in the spring. But given his solid skill set—one he flashed down at Miami—he may now get the chance to jumpstart his career here in Carolina.
