After being dumped from a long-term relationship with the Las Vegas Raiders on Valentine’s Day, Derek Carr is single and out to mingle. And it appears as though he’s got a second date with one of his potential suitors in the Carolina Panthers.
Shortly after his media availability at the 2023 NFL Scouting Combine on Wednesday, general manager Scott Fitterer told reporters that the team will speak with Carr—over a phone call—again on Monday. The 31-year-old quarterback spoke with the Panthers for the first time on Tuesday, a meeting head coach Frank Reich seemed high on.
“Yeah, good meeting with Derek,” Reich said during his time at the podium. “Really have a lot of respect for what he’s accomplished in his career, the kind of player he is, the kind of person he is. You know, just to see, ‘Is this the right fit? Is this an answer?’ I think part of that is—yeah, this is a good option. But we have to look it through. We’re looking at all options.”
Carr has also met, multiple times, with the New Orleans Saints and New York Jets—with whom he has another sit-down with on Wednesday.
