Panthers’ Week 8 win breaks interesting 24-year NFL streak

Bryce Young said the Carolina Panthers’ first win of the year felt like, well, one win. But it also made the entire league feel something it hasn’t felt in nearly 25 years.

Per Josh Dubow of the Associated Press, this is the first season since 1999 where every team has won at least one game and lost one game in the first eight weeks of the campaign. So, yes, there are no more undefeated teams and there are no more winless ones.

All of the unblemished records were gone by Week 6. That weekend saw the 5-0 San Francisco 49ers fall to the Cleveland Browns and the 5-0 Philadelphia Eagles fall to the New York Jets.

Carolina, who was trying to avoid tying their worst start in franchise history, entered this past Sunday with an 0-6 mark. But thanks to a strong performance from rookie quarterback Bryce Young, a stout defensive showing and a resilient walk-off effort from kicker Eddy Piñeiro—the Panthers topped the visiting Houston Texans, 15-13.

Peace out, 0’s!
