Panthers’ Week 13 matchup vs. Buccaneers flexed to late slot

You’ll have to adjust your scheduling in a few weeks—that is, if you’re still watching.

The NFL announced on Tuesday afternoon that the Week 13 contest between the Carolina Panthers and their host Tampa Bay Buccaneers has been moved from 1:00 p.m. ET to 4:05 p.m. ET. The matchup, which will be the first of the season for these two NFC South rivals, takes place on Dec. 3 and will be aired by CBS.

In their original slot will be the clash between the 5-5 Denver Broncos, winners of four straight, and the 6-4 Houston Texans, winners of three straight. The recent surges from both AFC squads is likely the motivating factor behind the flex, as their matchup should now serve as the marquee broadcast for CBS’ early slate of games.

Carolina and Tampa Bay, on the other hand, isn’t exactly the most must-see event the league will have to offer. That honor, particularly in that late slot, will be claimed by the heavyweight fight between the 7-3 San Francisco 49ers and 9-1 Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch of last year’s NFC title game.
