On Sunday, Robbie Anderson was sent off the field and into the locker room by Carolina Panthers interim head coach Steve Wilks. And now, we know he won’t be coming back.
Buy Panthers TicketsAs first reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport on Monday afternoon, the seventh-year wide receiver has been traded to the Arizona Cardinals. Rapoport did not, in his initial report, disclose any information on what’ll be heading back to Carolina in the deal.

Anderson played in 39 games for the organization over the past three years. In that span, he reeled in 161 catches for 1,821 yards and nine touchdowns.
His best season with the Panthers, without a doubt, came in 2020—when he posted career-highs in targets (136), receptions (95), receiving yards (1,096), first downs (49) and catch rate (69.9 percent).
That campaign helped him earn a two-year, $29.5 million extension back on Aug. 24, 2021. Since signing that pact, Anderson has totaled 66 grabs, 725 yards and six scores in 23 outings.
Carolina will now have to absorb $19.4 million in dead money over the remaining two years of Anderson’s contract.
Update (1:27 p.m. ET): Per an official release from the Panthers, they will receive undisclosed draft compensation for Anderson.
