As reported by Justin Melo of The Draft Network on Friday afternoon, the Carolina Panthers will be bringing in Auburn University defensive end Eku Leota for a top-30 visit. The meeting will take place on Sunday.
This’ll be somewhat of a homecoming for the edge defender, as he’s a native of Asheville, N.C. Leota finished his high school career as the all-time sack leader for Asheville High, where he was also a basketball letterman.
The 6-foot-3, 252-pounder then kicked off his collegiate career at Northwestern University beginning in 2019. He spent two seasons in Evanston, Ill.—totaling 25 total tackles (10.0 for a loss), 6.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and a pass defensed over 15 games.
Leota moved on to Auburn in 2021. In his pair of seasons for the Tigers, he recorded 41 tackles (15.0 for a loss), 9.0 sacks and a forced fumble in 17 outings.
With the Panthers seeking out some depth off the edge, Leota could have some appeal as an outside linebacker in the team’s new 3-4 base defense.
