Panthers set for top-30 visit with Penn State CB Joey Porter Jr.

The Carolina Panthers already have one cornerback whose father played in the NFL, and he’s pretty darn good. But don’t expect them to foster another.

Nonetheless, the team is doing their due diligence ahead of the 2023 NFL draft—having set up a top-30 visit with Penn State University cornerback Joey Porter Jr. Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston was first with the news on Tuesday.

Porter Jr.—son of former linebacker Joey Porter—has already met with the Las Vegas Raiders and Washington Commanders, and is also expected to visit the Baltimore Ravens, New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles. One of the very top cornerback prospects of the class, he is currently projected as an early-to-mid first-round pick.

The 6-foot-2, 193-pounder played four seasons at Penn State. He appeared in 34 games as a Nittany Lion—recording 113 combined tackles, a sack and an interception.

Being that the Panthers have just one first-round pick—which will, obviously, be spent on a quarterback—Porter Jr. is very unlikely to end up in Carolina.
