Panthers’ sack leader, former 1st-round pick headed to Eagles

On Monday, the Carolina Panthers waived outside linebacker Charles Harris. But on Tuesday, the veteran defender landed in an awfully good place.

As first reported by Zach Berman of PHLY, Harris has been successfully claimed off waivers by the Philadelphia Eagles.

The 9-2 NFC East leaders just learned that lost 15th-year pass rusher and team captain Brandon Graham to a season-ending triceps injury, one he sustained in Sunday night’s win over the Los Angeles Rams. Graham has recorded 3.5 sacks, tied for the third-highest total on the Eagles this season.

Harris, who has notched 3.0 sacks thus far, departed from the Panthers as one of their two leaders in the category. He is tied with defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson.

Carolina signed Harris, a former first-round pick of the Miami Dolphins, on Sept. 11. The 29-year-old went on to appear in nine games for the Panthers—also totaling 21 combined tackles and seven quarterback hits with six starts.
