New Carolina Panthers head coach Dave Canales wants to get in touch with another familiar face.
According to NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero, the Panthers have requested to interview Dallas Cowboys quality control coach and offensive assistant Will Harriger for their quarterbacks coach job. Harriger and Canales had crossed paths during their time with the Seattle Seahawks.
That time came from 2014 to 2018, when Canales served as the wide receivers coach and quarterbacks coach and Harriger as an offensive assistant. He also picked up stints as an offensive assistant, game management coordinator and running backs coach for the Atlanta Falcons between 2019 and 2020 and as an offensive assistant for the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2021.
Harriger went down to the college ranks in 2022 as a senior offensive analyst at the University of Southern California. He worked primarily with the Trojans’ quarterbacks, helping top prospect Caleb Williams to his Heisman Trophy-winning campaign that season.
Given that Williams is projected as this year’s No. 1 overall and the Panthers finished with the worst record in the NFL, perhaps he and Harriger will be reunit . . . oh, wait.
