Panthers reportedly interviewing Bengals OC Brian Callahan on Thursday

The very first name to pop up in the Carolina Panthers’ latest head-coaching search will get his interview this week.

As first reported by Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer this evening, the team will talk to Cincinnati Bengals offensive coordinator about their opening on Thursday. Joe Person of The Athletic also reported on the upcoming meeting shortly after.

Callahan got his start in the NFL as a coaching assistant for the Denver Broncos in 2010, where he’d also serve as an offensive quality control coach in 2011 and an offensive assistant in 2013. After Denver, he spent his next three years as a quarterbacks coach for the Detroit Lions (2016 to 2017) and for the then-Oakland Raiders (2018).

2019 marked the beginning of his play-calling career, as Callahan was hired as the offensive coordinator for the Cincinnati Bengals. He’d help lead the Bengals to an AFC title in the 2021 season, where the offense averaged 361.5 total yards per contest.
