Chuba Hubbard’s career year is now in the books.
The Carolina Panthers officially placed the fourth-year running back on injured reserve this morning due to a calf strain, a move that effectively ends his 2024 season. ESPN senior NFL insider Adam Schefter was first with the news on Saturday.
According to head coach Dave Canales, Hubbard was expected to play in tomorrow’s contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He was listed on Friday’s injury report as questionable for the matchup.
Over his 15 games in 2024, Hubbard has notched career-highs in carries (250), rushing yards (1,195) and rushing touchdowns (10). His 1,195 rushing yards are the fourth-most for a single season in franchise history—behind only DeAngelo Williams (1,515), Stephen Davis (1,444) and Christian McCaffrey (1,387).
Hubbard’s final carry of his campaign gave the Panthers a walk-off 36-30 victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 16. He’d also be named the NFC’s Offensive Player of the Week for his heroic efforts, in which he rushed for 152 yards (one off of his career-high) and two scores.
