Panthers QB Bryce Young talks about his victorious Week 9 start

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young might’ve been feeling extra blessed when he took the lectern on Sunday afternoon.

But before taking questions from reporters, Young led his team to a thrilling 23-22 upset over the visiting New Orleans Saints. That win ended on the first-ever victory formation in the NFL for Young, whose previous two wins as a starter came on walk-off field goals.

So, he’d be asked how that taking that final knee felt.

“Yeah, it feels great. It feels great,” an exuberant Young stated. “You definitely don’t take it for granted. So, yeah, it’s a great feeling.

Young seemed to be feeling great throughout the second start back from his benching. He completed 16 of his 26 throws for 171 yards, a touchdown and an interception—one that was snatched away from the hands of his own receiver.

Sunday not only played host to the third win for Young as a starter, but also the first game-winning touchdown drive of his pro career. With the Panthers down 22-17 at the 3:26 mark of the fourth quarter, the former No. 1 overall pick would orchestrate a four-play, 64-yard visit to the end zone.

He was asked what he was thinking at the start of the possession.

“Where else would you rather be?” he replied. “That’s all you can ask for—have a chance to go take the lead in a drive. That’s what we play for, that’s what we work for—especially as an offense, that’s all we can ask for.”
