During his introductory press conference, 2023’s No. 1 overall pick Bryce Young told reporters he couldn’t wait to speak with NBA superstar and Carolina Panthers superfan Steph Curry. Here’s what he said last Friday:
“I know Steph right now—he’s got a lot on his plate right now, too. Obviously, he’s focused and locked in on the playoff series he’s trying to win. But yeah, I’m well aware. Definitely have a tremendous amount of respect for him as a player and as a person. Someone I definitely look up to. And yeah, I’m well aware of him being a part of the fanbase, so it’s super cool.”
And perhaps that eagerness explains his whereabouts on Saturday night—as cameras caught Carolina’s new quarterback in the stands at Crypto.com Arena for Game 3 of the Western Conference Semifinals between the Golden State Warriors and host Los Angeles Lakers.

Young, of course, has received many a comparison to Curry. While both are relatively undersized, their special abilities in distributing the ball and breaking down defenses make them giants in their respective arenas.
Curry, in fact, might’ve tried to draw some Young comparisons himself last week . . .
“QB1. Bryce Young.”

Unfortunately for Curry and his Dubs, the Lakers eventually powered their way to a 127-97 win. So maybe he can get to talking to Bryce right away, because Golden State could really use an extra Steph for the rest of this series.
