We all know that Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young is probably itching to get back out in a live game. But will he admit it?
Young and the rest of the team’s projected starters have been held out of action for the first two preseason games of the summer. So with one last chance coming up in the finale on Saturday, the 23-year-old passer was asked if he wants to get out there against the Buffalo Bills.
“I trust in the coaching staff,” Young replied. “They have our best interests at heart. Obviously, they manage the team, they know what they’re doing. So for me and for us, we trust whatever it is that they wanna do and whatever Coach’s calls are, we’ll be ready for that.”
Head coach Dave Canales has been quite clear about his thought process on the topic over the last few weeks. With the first-string units dealing with multiple injuries, Canales and his staff will only play their starters if they can get a fair and full look at the group.
Young was then asked if he’ll be comfortable if he goes into the regular season without any exhibition reps.
“I’ll be comfortable either way,” he said. “Again, I know that they’re not just waking up and rolling the dice. There’s a reason for everything. They’re very calculated in what they’re doing. They have our best interests at heart. They know what’s best.
“They’ve had a lot of success in different places, they’ve very knowledgable, they know what they’re doing. So I’ll be comfortable regardless.”
