Panthers QB Bryce Young appears on Good Morning America

From the Carolina Panthers, to the Houston Texans and the Las Vegas Raiders—everyone seemingly wanted a piece of Bryce Young. Heck, even Michael Strahan couldn’t wait to get to the latest No. 1 overall pick.

On Friday, no more than 12 hours after he heard his name called to kick off the 2023 NFL draft, Young appeared on ABC’s Good Morning America to talk to the Pro Football Hall of Famer about last night’s big moment. When asked how that moment felt, the University of Alabama star expressed his amazement.

“It was surreal,” said an appreciative (and understandably weary) Young. “That’s something that you dream of and for that to come into fruition was amazing. I was super blessed to have my parents there, my family around me—be able to share that moment with them. It’s a moment I’ll never forget.”

Strahan then asked the 21-year-old quarterback if it was important for him to be picked atop the board—and he gave the exact answer you’d think Bryce Christopher Young would give.

“For me, wherever it was, just being No. 1 wasn’t something I was too focused on,” he replied. “I wanna be in the right fit. And in big picture things like this in my life, I feel like that’s not up to me. God leads those things and I knew I was gonna end up wherever he wanted me to be. And for me to be able to be a Carolina Panther now is surreal. I couldn’t ask for a better situation. I’m super blessed for how things turned out.”

And, apparently, so are the Panthers.
