The 2023 season wasn’t going away without claiming yet another Carolina Panthers defender.
As announced by the team on Wednesday afternoon, outside linebacker Amaré Barno has been placed on injured reserve. With just two games remaining, the move officially ends the 24-year-old’s second pro campaign.
Barno injured his knee in this past Sunday’s loss to the Green Bay Packers. He was carted off the field after recording just two snaps on special teams.
A sixth-round pick in 2022, Barno has appeared in 24 games for the Panthers over the last two seasons. He played in each of the team’s 15 games in 2023, including a start in the Week 10 loss to the Chicago Bears.
The majority of Barno’s snaps this season came on special teams, where he logged 232 looks. In his 189 defensive snaps, he—per Pro Football Focus—recorded eight total pressures and seven stops.
Barno is now one of six Panthers defenders currently on injured reserve.
