The Carolina Panthers may be getting back even more firepower off the edge.
As announced by the team on Monday morning, outside linebacker Amaré Barno has been designated to return to practice. The 25-year-old defender, who tore his ACL in last year’s Week 16 loss to the Green Bay Packers, has been on the physically unable to perform list since the start of the regular season.
Barno was selected by the Panthers in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL draft. The Blythewood, S.C. native has since gone on to appear in 24 games for the Panthers, amassing 30 combined tackles (three for a loss) and 2.0 sacks.
The Panthers, who have been struggling to maintain a consistent rotation of pass rushers in 2024, just got outside linebacker D.J. Wonnum back from his quad injury. Wonnum made his team debut in the Week 10 win over the New York Giants, where he recorded six tackles and a sack.
