Perhaps two first-round picks, two second-round picks and star wide receiver DJ Moore isn’t enough for the Chicago Bears.
As first reported by Joe Person of The Athletic this afternoon, the Bears are interviewing Carolina Panthers offensive coordinator Thomas Brown today. The interview is for the team’s vacant offensive coordinator position.
Brown, who was brought in by Carolina last offseason, is fresh off his first season as an NFL offensive coordinator. The 37-year-old, in what was a rough campaign for everyone involved with the organization, experienced more than his fair share of twists and turns in 2023.
After beginning the season without the call sheet, Brown was handed play-calling duties by head coach Frank Reich as the 0-6 Panthers headed into their Week 7 bye. Then, not even a month in, Reich would reclaim the responsibilities from Brown.
Following Reich’s dismissal from the team, which came just two weeks later, Brown would take over the sheet once again to finish out the season. The Panthers, under the work of both Reich and Brown, ranked 32nd in total offense.
Brown is also reportedly expected to interview for the Tennessee Titans’ head-coaching job on Thursday.
