Panthers Notebook: Injured S Nick Scott ‘Frustrated Not On Field’

At least Nick Scott had something else to think about last weekend. The “injured” Carolina Panthers safety became a father for the second time with the birth of a daughter, Noa.

“She was born Saturday morning,” Scott said, adding between moments of fatherhood, he found time “to watch Penn State and these guys fight hard on Sunday

“Obviously, I wish I could have been there, but …”

Despite the six-year professional declaring: “I feel great, ” Scott remains sidelined.

Is there a timeline for his return?

“Timeline?” he asked. “Your guess is as good as mine. I’ve been healthy for about five … six weeks now. I’m just sittin’ here marinading, waiting to get my shot.”

On injured reserve since Oct. 26, Scott returned to practice Nov. 27, but has yet to be re-activated to the 53-man roster. In seven games this season, Scott, who previously worked with defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero when the two were with the Las Angeles Rams, registered 28 total tackles and two passes defended. He remains engaged.

“I’m trying to cheer these guys on, being a good teammate, but obviously (I’m) extremely frustrated I’m not on the field,” Scott said. “It is what it is.”

Scott was listed as a full participant during Thursday’s practice. The Panthers (3-10) host the Dallas Cowboys (5-8) at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday.

During his weekly video conference Thursday, Evero remained non-committal to revealing a timetable for Scott’s potential return.

“Well, I don’t want to give up game-plan specifics,” Evero said. “(General manager) Dan (Morgan) and Dave (Canales) will handle all that stuff and can give you some more feedback.”

Injury Reports

Cornerback Jaycee Horn, who re-aggravated a groin injury during last Sunday’s 22-16 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, was listed as limited during Thursday’s practice. … Rookie linebacker Trevin Wallace (shoulder) did not practice, while outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney (knee), who did not dress last Sunday, returned as a full participant.
