Panthers' Jonathon Brooks Inactive For NFL Game In Germany

Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks (24) lifts a ball during a practice session in Munich, Germany, Friday, Nov. 8, 2024. The Carolina Panthers are set to play the New York Giants in an NFL

Carolina Panthers running back Jonathon Brooks was listed as inactive for the team's game against the New York Giants in Germany on Sunday, delaying his much-anticipated NFL debut. Brooks, a second-round draft pick, has been sidelined since tearing his ACL last November while playing for the Texas Longhorns. His next chance to take the field will come in two weeks when the Panthers face the Kansas City Chiefs following their bye week.

The Panthers also announced that safety Jammie Robinson had to return to the United States to attend to a personal matter. Alongside Brooks and Robinson, the Panthers' inactives for the game included CB Shemar Bartholomew, LB Charles Harris, LT Ikem Ekwonu, TE Tommy Tremble, and DT Jaden Crumedy.

On the Giants' side, kicker Graham Gano made his return to the lineup after more than two months on the injured reserve. Gano's last appearance was on September 15 when he sustained an injury on the opening kickoff against the Washington Commanders. Greg Joseph had been filling in for Gano but an abdomen injury last week led to rookie kicker Jude McAtamney making his NFL debut in the previous game against the Commanders.

Wide receiver Darius Slayton was unable to travel to Germany due to being in concussion protocol, while rookie LB Darius Muasau was also inactive for the game with a hamstring injury. The Giants' other inactives for the matchup were S Jason Pinnock, OL Jake Kubas, WR Bryce Ford-Wheaton, DL Jordon Riley, and QB Tommy DeVito.

These roster updates set the stage for an intriguing showdown between the Panthers and the Giants in Germany, with both teams making adjustments to their lineups in hopes of securing a victory. Fans can follow the action and stay updated on the latest NFL news at the official AP NFL hub.
