With 10 days left until the start of the 2023 NFL draft, the Carolina Panthers are wrapping up their evaluations for the spring—quarterbacks and otherwise. And one of their latest evaluations is part of the latter category.
Thanks to the tip from Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer, University of Wisconsin linebacker Nick Herbig is in Charlotte today for what is likely a top-30 visit with the team. Herbig posted an Instagram story from inside Bank of America Stadium this afternoon.
Born in Kauai, Hawaii, Herbig played his high school ball at the Saint Louis School in Oahu. There, he was a two-time all-state selection and the 2019 All-Hawaii Open Division Defensive Player of the Year.
The four-star recruit made his way to Madison beginning in 2020, where he played in seven games as a freshman. Herbig would proceed to establish himself over the next two campaigns—posting 9.0 sacks in 2021 and 11.0 sacks in his final season of 2022.
Herbig, at 6-foot-2 and 240 pounds, may be a fit as an edge rusher or an off-ball backer at the pro level.
