Former Los Angeles Rams cornerback Kevin Peterson has made the transition from playing football to coaching it. Mike Kaye of the Charlotte Observer reported on Wednesday that Peterson is being hired by the Panthers as a defensive assistant.
Peterson spent three years with the Rams from 2016-2018, primarily on the practice squad, but he did play six games and make one start in 2017. That year, he intercepted two passes and returned them for a total of 42 yards, also recovering one fumble and making 11 tackles.
He finished his playing career with the Cardinals, spending three years in Arizona from 2019-2021 before retiring from football.
Last season, Peterson was on the Colorado State University Pueblo coaching staff, a job he landed after being a coaching fellow with the Rams in 2023.
