Panthers great Luke Kuechly doesn’t rule out coaching in NFL

If the Carolina Panthers are looking for a new coach some time in the near future, we might know a guy.

On the latest episode of Audiorama’s Block Forever hosted by Ryan Kalil, (hey, we know that guy, too!), Luke Kuechly joined his former teammate and fellow franchise great to shoot the breeze on the past and present of the NFL. Interestingly enough, they’d also get into the future—something the legendary linebacker left a bit open.

“I don’t think I’d ever say never,” Kuechly said of coaching one day. “I think I’d really enjoy it and have a ton of fun with it. Just the time associated . . . if I jump back in, I would have to make a choice to say no to Christmas and Thanksgiving and I’m not quite sure that I’m ready to do that.”

The 2013 Defensive Player of the Year and seven-time All-Pro, in the first venture of his post-playing career, was a pro scout for the Panthers between 2020 and 2021. But he didn’t seem ready for that either, as he resigned from the post to spend more time with friends, family and fishing poles.

Now, the 31-year-old is currently behind the mic as a member of the Panthers’ radio broadcast team—and even makes the occasional appearance or two at some practices.

A true student of the game and one of the most cerebral minds to ever grace a gridiron, Kuechly has certainly been no stranger to coaching inquiries since his retirement. And maybe, just maybe, he’ll get an intriguing opportunity real soon . . .
