For the third straight week, the Carolina Panthers will be heading into another battle with a depleted secondary. So, for the third straight week, they’ve called up some help.
As reported by Darin Gantt of Panthers.com on Saturday afternoon, the team will be promoting cornerback Dicaprio Bootle to the active roster ahead of Sunday’s matchup against the Detroit Lions. This will be Bootle’s third consecutive standard elevation.

Prior to signing with Carolina’s practice squad back on Sept. 9, the University of Nebraska product played a pair of seasons with the Kansas City Chiefs. He appeared in seven games for the Chiefs over that time, totaling 11 tackles between the 2021 and 2022 campaigns.
Bootle played in 41 snaps, all on special teams, for Carolina the last two games. Given that this will be Bootle’s third elevation, the Panthers must either sign him to the active roster or place him on waivers following the Week 5 outing.
