Shy Tuttle just joined the Carolina Panthers on a three-year, $19.5 million contract—and the world’s richest man won’t be getting a single cent of it.
In the latest platform change for his new play toy, Twitter owner and Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk is set to unleash the “Blue Check Apocalypse” beginning today—on April Fool’s Day, no less. Legacy verified users, who were previously stamped by Twitter as notable accounts of public interest, will be losing their blue checkmarks . . . unless they pay to keep them.
Now, accounts that are signed up to Twitter Blue—a premium subscription that offers select features for $8 a month—will only be eligible for the badge. But, uh, Tuttle doesn’t seem too keen on the idea . . .

The 27-year-old defensive lineman isn’t the first professional athlete to push back on the policy. Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James, literally the two biggest stars in North American sports, also tweeted their plans to proceed without the checkmarks.
