Panthers designate another defender to return to practice

The Carolina Panthers defense continues to crawl back to health.

As announced on Wednesday afternoon, the team has designated safety Nick Scott to return to practice. The sixth-year veteran has missed the last four games due to a hamstring injury.

Scott joined the Panthers on a one-year deal this past offseason. He’s gone on to appear in seven games with four starts thus far—totaling 28 combined tackles and two passes defensed.

Carolina moved Scott to injured reserve on Oct. 26, the day prior to their Week 8 matchup against the Denver Broncos.

He now has 21 days to be activated to the 53-man roster.

Along with Scott, the Panthers have also recently designated outside linebacker Amaré Barno as a returnee to practice. Barno, whose three-week window was officially opened up by the team back on Nov. 18, has yet to play this season as he continues his comeback from an ACL tear sustained in late 2023.
