Jaycee Horn isn’t the only Carolina Panthers player eyeing a new digit.
On Saturday, fellow defender Brian Burns sent out some feelers on a possible number change. He asked his Instagram followers if he should stick with the No. 53—which he’s had since entering the league in 2019—or make a switch to either 0 or 9.
Like Horn, Burns is seemingly enticed by the newly-instated 0—which was made officially available across the league during the NFL Annual Meeting last month. 2023 will mark the first campaign in 50 years in which players can don the zero.
Those, however, will not be the only numbers Burns will have to think about this offseason. The 24-year-old, who is set to play on a fifth-year option this upcoming season, is in line for a long-term, big-money extension from the organization.
Burns was selected to his second consecutive Pro Bowl after a strong 2022, where he posted career-bests in sacks (12.5), combined tackles (63), tackles for a loss (17) and quarterback hits (22).
