Panthers DC candidate Ejiro Evero let out of contract by Broncos

The Carolina Panthers no longer need permission to interview the latest name in their search for a new defensive coordinator.

As first reported by NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport on Saturday evening, the Denver Broncos are allowing Ejiro Evero out of his current contract. The Panthers, just a few hours earlier, requested to speak with the 42-year-old play caller.

As a result, Evero is—of course—free to meet with whatever team he wishes. The popular coaching candidate has also received interest from the Minnesota Vikings—who were not granted permission to speak with him by the Broncos this past week.

If he does meet with Carolina, he’ll mark the fourth man that’s been interviewed for the opening. The Panthers have already talked to New York Jets safeties coach Marquand Manuel, former New Orleans Saints co-defensive coordinator Kris Richard and Vic Fangio—who has since committed to serve as the next Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator.
