Pancake Day: Celebrities share their Shrove Tuesday creations and competitions

Whether you’re a fan of the trendy Japanese souffle pancakes or a fierce defender of the classic recipes, today is the day to get your whisk, batter and pan ready.

Every year on Shrove Tuesday, people across the globe put their pancake-flipping and pancake-decorating skills to the test.

To mark Pancake Day, a number of fan-favourite celebrities have shared their creations and spirited competitions on social media. One star even broke a Guinness World record.

The Princess of Wales stopped by a nursing home in Slough called Oxford House to flip pancakes with the elderly residents, joking that her pancakes always get stuck “either in the pan or the ceiling or the floor”.

Talking to one of the residents, the Princess said her children would be making their own pancakes this evening.

Famous chef, restaurateur, and TV star Gordon Ramsay shared his sticky toffee pancake recipe on Instagram, building a dreamy pancake stack.

BBC Radio 2’s Sara Cox shared her pancake flipping face-off with Jeremy Vine, Scott Mills, and Jules Lang to find the “biggest tosser at Radio 2”.

The winner was Sara Cox, with 10 successful pancake flips.

Amanda Holden and her This Is Heart colleagues attempted to break the world record for the fastest time to top 10 pancakes. Holden opted for a sugar and lemon topping and managed to set a new record with 29.33 seconds.

Beloved food writer and TV cook Nigella Lawson also went on Instagram to share what she believed to be “the perfect Pancake Day breakfast”. Her American pancakes were served with sweet maple syrup.

Colleen Rooney was in the kitchen with her little ones, preparing a delicious breakfast this morning, which she shared on Instagram.

Michelle Keegan’s TV personality beau, Mark Wright, shared his healthy pancake day recipe with bananas, berries, oats, protein powder, honey, and more.
