Pamela Anderson uses her island to intelligently zone her kitchen – designers say her tiles bring a twist to a classic color palette

Pamela Anderson.

Actress and model Pamela Anderson has forever been a beloved style icon, and her effortlessly chic look is perfectly reflected in her home. The Last Showgirl star showcased her stunning kitchen in a snap on Instagram, demonstrating her thoughtful design and acumen for creating lasting elegance whilst maintaining a warm and homely feel.

The picture shows the actress in a white dress, which mirrors the crisp white walls and cabinetry surrounding her. The bright white is contrasted with the classic monochromatic tiling bordered by traditional hardwood flooring. This juxtaposition makes the kitchen island feel like a separate zone from the rest of her kitchen – creating an area that feels more social than the place where the actress prepares food.

Alongside zoning the kitchen, Anderson's tiles emphasize the versatility of a black-and-white color scheme – simultaneously tapping into the quiet luxury and rustic farmhouse design aesthetics. The kitchen includes a glamorous crystal chandelier accenting the timeless white wooden beam features on the ceiling. Anderson’s eye for design hasn’t gone unnoticed by experts. Interior designer Nina Lichtenstein describes the star’s space as ‘a masterclass in monochrome’.

The Modern Black and White Kitchen Edit

Lichtenstein comments on the impact of the contrasting flooring, explaining how ‘The combination of patterns and materials anchors the space, drawing attention to the island as a functional centerpiece while highlighting the geometric beauty of the tile.’

On the kitchen island itself, she describes how it ‘sits harmoniously within the monochromatic tile, creating a stunning contrast that is further complemented by the surrounding natural wood elements.’

The designer also comments on Anderson’s choice of furnishings, saying: ‘black metal swivel stools with wood seats echo the interplay of tones, beautifully tying the room together and ensuring every design element feels intentional,' she comments.

'The white wood-paneled walls and natural wood window trim enhance the overall aesthetic, pulling the eye toward the carefully framed tilework below and the island above. The black-and-white tiles provide more than just a visual statement – they introduce rhythm and energy to the kitchen. By breaking up the organic textures of wood with a bold, structured pattern, they create a dynamic balance between modern sophistication and rustic charm. This juxtaposition ensures the space feels both timeless and inviting.’

‘Monochromatic tiles like these are a strategic design choice for defining specific zones within an open space, as seen in Anderson’s kitchen. They draw attention to focal points, such as the island, while adding texture and movement to the floor. The natural wood trim acts as a bridge, uniting the boldness and crispness of the tiles with the organic warmth and charm of the wood flooring.’

Lichtenstein finishes by saying, ‘Anderson’s kitchen demonstrates how even the simplest black-and-white palette can make a space feel bold yet cohesive. By grounding the island in this high-contrast design, she proves that the right flooring can transform a kitchen into a harmonious blend of art and functionality.’

Integrating monochromatic tiles into your space is a perfect way to create interest through contrasting designs. They can blend seamlessly with natural wooden elements, as evidenced by Pamela Anderson’s beautiful kitchen.
