Pam Bondi, President-elect Trump's pick to lead the Department of Justice, expressed her commitment to refocusing the DOJ on its fundamental mission during her confirmation hearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee.
Bondi emphasized the importance of prioritizing the safety of Americans and the vigorous prosecution of criminals. She outlined her intention to address critical issues such as gangs, drugs, terrorist cartels, border security, and threats from foreign adversaries.
She stated, 'If confirmed as the next attorney general of the United States, my overriding objective will be to return the Department of Justice to its core mission of keeping Americans safe and vigorously prosecuting criminals. That is what the American people expect, and that is what they deserve from the Department of Justice.'
Bondi also highlighted the need to focus on reducing recidivism and improving the Bureau of Prisons. She expressed her willingness to work across party lines to achieve these goals.
If confirmed, Bondi pledged to dedicate her efforts to 'making America safe again' and fulfilling her responsibility to enhance public safety and uphold the rule of law.
