Pals praised for epic hack as they sneak sofa into 'worst Wimbledon queue to date'

The first day of Wimbledon was plagued with frustration after huge nine-hour queues formed outside the gates at SW19, and fans dubbed it the 'worst' they've ever seen.

But rather than standing around and complaining about the long wait, Jesse Besse and her fellow flatmates managed to hack the queue by taking their living room sofa with them.

The 28-year-old, from South London, went viral on TikTok this week, after bringing her pink sofa to the tennis event and kicking back with Pimms and strawberries.

"I've been to the tennis loads of times, but this year was the longest I've seen," Jesse told the Mirror. "The queue is part of the tournament, so you have to sort of expect you're in for the long haul!"

While it might be tricky for most to transport their sofa, Jesse's was easily-buildable - so they took it in parts and rebuild it there, and even made plans for collection.

"While packing for our queue essentials - not forgetting the strawberries and cream and Pimms - I suggested we bring our Snug along because it's easy to take apart and put together," she said.

"And it meant we could put our feet up whilst in the long queue, which was a welcome break from the chaos.

"We arranged for our other friends to pick it up when we got near the front and it's back safe and sound in the lounge now."

It was a moment that will go down in history for her friends. She explained: "When we put it together in the queue, hundreds of people start applauding us."

After documenting their idea on TikTok, as well as featuring in other people's videos, they rocked up over 170,000 views and got invited onto the radio and TV.

"It's been madness, all because we wanted to be comfy!" Jesse said. "Obviously, the queue was a pain but you're with your friends and it's all part of the fun.

"We got to see lots of play still, and when Snug got in touch with us after spotting their sofa, they have even paid for our tickets to reward us for the queue hack!"

Despite the pink sofa being a stand-out highlight, Jesse said it was watching Richard Gasquet that really made the day for her, "as he's a bit of a Wimbledon ledge and has a beauty of a backhand".

"The sofa, the queue, and getting to see some of the tennis made this the most memorable Wimbledon ever!" she finished.

A Snug spokesperson, told the Mirror: "We applaud Jesse and her friends for their epic comfy queuing hack that seems to have got everyone talking. Rewarding them with tickets was the least we could do.

"It's a long time to sit to wait to watch the tennis, but at least it didn't rain and thanks to the sofa the queue was probably as comfy as the Royal box for Jesse and her friends!"
