Palnackie Primary pupils set younger pupils special gingerbread challenge

The P6/7 pupils at Palnackie Primary School proved to be confident leaders of learning last week as they planned and organised inter-disciplinary learning activities for younger pupils.

They were set the challenging task of creating a treasure hunt, leading their peers to the gingerbread house from the fairy tale Hansel and Gretel.

They worked enthusiastically together to create a map, write clues using locality, rhyme and fairy tale features, create nets of 3D gingerbread houses, research and make notes about fairy tales and finally create a magnificent gingerbread play house hidden at the end of the trail.

Class teacher Mrs Valentine was delighted with the final result and has created a
display in school to recognise their achievements.

Toby in primary seven said: “I enjoyed making the clues and it was good to see everyone was able to follow them.”

And Ida in primary five said: “I liked how the P6/7s made the gingerbread house – the different food looked great.”
