With Chelsea potentially waiting for the winners, Palmeiras face Al Ahly in the first semi-final of the Club World Cup.
Brazilian side Palmeiras qualified straight through to the last four after winning the Copa Libertadores in South America, while Al Ahly from Egypt won the most recent edition of the CAF Champions League in Africa and beat Monterrey 1-0 on Saturday to reach this stage.
Palmeiras were mobbed by fans as they travelled to the airport in Brazil and are favourites to face Chelsea in the final.
But Al Ahly can take confidence from when they faced Palmerias in this tournament last year. The sides met in the third-place playoff, and after a 0-0 draw it was Al Ahly who came out on top in the penalty shootout.
Chelsea face Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, who are AFC Champions League winners representing Asia, in the other semi-final.
