Palmeiras President, Leila, has brutally responded to recent transfer rumours over Brazilian superstar, Neymar Jr.
Palmeiras President Slams Neymar Jr Amid Transfer Rumours
Leila’s comments mean that the Brazilian superstar will not be signing for Palmeiras any time soon, despite rumours linking Neymar with a return to his home nation.
Since moving to Al Hilal in the summer of 2023, the 32-year-old has failed to live up to expectation and suffered several injury setbacks.
In October 2023, Neymar was handed a major ACL injury during his time with the Brazil national team and this particular issue kept him out of action for just under a year.
Just two games after his return, the footballing icon was forced off once again but this time with a hamstring injury and this has sidelined Neymar for the last few weeks.
These injuries have started rumours that the Saudi Arabian side are looking to offload their star asset and a move back to Brazil has been rumoured.
A return to his boyhood side, Santos, is one of the favoured moves on UK betting sites and the Palmeiras president has supported this in a damming statement over Neymar.
She said: “Great player, but he’s going to Santos. I want to invest in someone who can come in immediately, who can start tomorrow if the coach decides.
“Palmeiras is not a medical department. I do not accept that a player signed by Palmeiras is not ready to play immediately.”
Reports also suggest that Neymar’s departure from Al Hilal could happen in January, as they are growing concerned over his availability for the remainder of the 204/25 campaign.
The Brazilian’s deal is one of the biggest in football, earning a staggering £130 million a year and this is set to run out at the end of this season.
Neymar’s removal may also be forced upon the club, as he is one of eight foreign players that are over 21 and this is dangerously close to breaking the Saudi Pro League legislation for overseas players.
A return to Brazil is not the only possibility for Neymar, as he has also been linked with a move to Inter Miami to recreate the infamous MSN front line with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez
The star has also been tipped to reunite with his former team-mates Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez at MLS side Inter Miami, with the trio having formed a legendary attacking force during their time at Barcelona.
