The Palisades Fire has shifted its direction towards the east late Friday, prompting fire departments to battle the blaze in the Mandeville Canyon area, as reported by the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Captain Adam VanGerpen highlighted the fire's movement towards the Mandeville Canyon area, bringing it closer to the 405 freeway. Despite the recent expiration of the Red Flag Warning for high winds, the fire's rapid eastward progression serves as a reminder of its unpredictable nature.
Firefighters are now focusing their efforts on the Mandeville Canyon region, with ten aircraft redirected to assist in containment efforts. Additionally, two extra strike teams have been dispatched to the area to combat the advancing flames.
VanGerpen noted that the fire's spread in the Mandeville Canyon area is currently not being fueled by strong winds but rather by the local topography. This change in direction has necessitated a strategic pivot by firefighting crews to address the evolving situation.
