As of early Saturday morning, the containment of the Palisades Fire stands at 8 percent, according to Cal Fire Battalion Chief Brent Pascua. Pascua expressed hope that this number would improve as the day progresses, with a clearer assessment of the work done overnight and the efforts from the previous day.
The current calm winds are providing a favorable environment for firefighters to utilize aircraft in battling the blaze. Pascua highlighted the effectiveness of the 'super scoopers' that can swiftly collect water from the ocean to aid in firefighting efforts. Additionally, the aircraft deployed in the operation are benefitting from the proximity of a reservoir near the fire, enabling quick turnarounds in water supply.
Pascua emphasized the ongoing progress in containment efforts, with a positive outlook on the situation. He mentioned that the firefighters are working diligently to enhance containment lines while remaining cautiously optimistic about the wind conditions expected in the coming days. The primary focus remains on managing the fire within its current perimeter to prevent further spread.
